Restless sea

 Somehow life and death seem closer here

As I bath in the restless sea

Land behind me is heavy

Full of bones and dust -

Gravestones creating

A jagged skyline.

The coral is lifeless 

Under my feet

Yet has it's revenge 

By cuts and bruises creating

A holiday tattoo.

Language creates nets

Of family and stories and

Barriers to expression

Of our feelings

Best left unsaid.
