You may have an image in your mind of the kangaroo bounding
large leaps with their powerful tail balancing out their flight
pushing speeds of up to 50 kph
their body balancing upright
a graceful silhouette on the landscape
But when the kangaroo goes slow
feeding, peaceful and observant
their front paws rest gently between their large hind feet
this print was left in the wet sand after high tide
crossing from beach side to grazing lands
every morning the prints were there
a reminder that sometimes we need to
rest
observe
take note
scan the horizon for prey or what might be coming next
make the most of what is at our feet
I adopt this mode in my next life phase
observing, quietness, listening
being open to opportunities that are not extractive
transactional or impossible
moving within the place I am in
now is a time for ...
slowing down but not braking
pausing before responding
reading before writing
acknowledging before requesting
discussing before deciding
and playing
always playing
creating and experimenting
feeding curiosity
